Alliance with Fuji Seal, Inc.

Providing a one-stop service through functional collaboration between pharmaceutical logistics and inspection/packaging

ITOCHU Logistics Corp. (hereinafter “ITOCHU Logistics”) announced that it has reached a basic agreement for a business tie-up with Fuji Seal, Inc. (hereinafter “Fuji Seal”), a subsidiary of Fuji Seal International, Inc, and has launched a proof of concept for a one-stop pharmaceutical service.

１．Background of the Alliance

For more than 20 years, ITOCHU Logistics has provided comprehensive logistics services to pharmaceutical manufacturers. In 2022, to better serve the import and export needs for pharmaceuticals and medical devices through its international air transportation and domestic delivery functions, ITOCHU Logistics opened a dedicated center in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture—conveniently accessible from Narita Airport—.

In recent years, inquiries in the field of imported pharmaceuticals have increasingly included regarding not only logistics but also inspection and packaging. To meet these requirements, an alliance with Fuji Seal—whose inspection and packaging facilities are also located in Ibaraki—is an ideal solution.

２．Purpose of the Alliance

The purpose of this alliance is to strengthen the pharmaceutical logistics business, a key focus area. Fuji Seal possesses inspection and packaging capability and quality control systems specialized for imported pharmaceuticals, as well as extensive customer support know-how. ITOCHU Logistics operates a global logistics network and provides specialized pharmaceutical logistics services. Through the integration of their respective functions, the two companies will deliver a comprehensive one-stop service for imported pharmaceuticals.

３．Future Outlook

Through this project, ITOCHU Logistics aims to strengthen the stable supply of pharmaceuticals and contribute to addressing the drug lag and loss issue in Japan.

Details of the alliance with Fuji Seal are showcased at INTERPHEX JAPAN 2025 (July 9–11, 2025, Tokyo Big Sight). ITOCHU Logistics accelerates the "expansion of its pharmaceutical logistics business" and continues to provide clients with new value.
